Terms of redemption
The difference in the sale and redemption price of gold is comparable to the difference in the redemption and selling rates of any world currency. Therefore, buying gold and buying euros, dollars or pounds fall into the same transaction category. The purchase of gold in investment bars and coins is not subject to value added tax, just as VAT is not paid when buying currencies.
